New Zealand has become the largest dog garment manufacturer, according to data from the World Trade Organization.
Tustus Dog Clothing, which has been in operation in Auckland since 2013, says it produces more than 6 million garments a year.
The company is the latest in a series of global brands to enter the market in the last few years, with companies like Hanes, Lululemon, Calvin Klein and Victoria’s Secret all now making their mark.
“The world is changing fast and Tustus is a global brand with global ambitions,” said Tustu Sq. founder and CEO Nick Pinto.
This year, Tustuss, which started out as a brand for children, now caters to customers from a wide range of industries, including agriculture, retail and healthcare.
Pinto said the company was now expanding to other markets, and that it plans to expand further in the coming years.
For now, Tostus is targeting a range of different customers, such as small businesses, who want a new look for their animals, as well as those who want to preserve the look and feel of their pets.
While Tustuses products have been available in the U.S. for a few years now, Pinto said they were looking to expand the brand to other countries, and also to international markets where there was a demand for a new product.
To do so, the company plans to open an international hub in Auckland in 2018, with the first stores in the country to open later this year.
